This is such a remarkable DIY and it’s so ridiculously easy to make too. Although you’d never know it to see the finished product.

Salvage old jeans and repurpose them to make a shabby-chic shag rug. Pre-worn cotton denim is soft and washable, and it’s a thirsty fabric if you use the rug as a bathmat or a rainy-day door mat.

Start by collecting old denim clothing from family and friends, or pick them up cheap at your local thrift store. You’ll need several pairs of jeans, depending on the size of the rug. I made a very large area rug when I made mine and it’s one of my favorite pieces of decor. I just love it!

This rug has added such a unique character to my living room. It’s amazing to me how much difference this area rug has made in the way it looks.

Spring cleaning is a great excuse to dig through your old clothes. Just because it’s worn, torn, or no longer fashionable, it doesn’t mean you need to throw it out. This DIY project is the perfect example of a great way to recycle old clothes. There are so many incredible projects for repurposing things you don’t wear any more, so think twice before you toss them!
